    It is best to buy the air tickets on-line from the airline websites. And they do accept international credit cards. I have always purchased tickets online. For international customers they will quote US$ fares which are more flexible.

    If you buy deep discounted tickets in Indian Rupees and you are not an Indian (and do not look Indian or carry and Indian ID you may have trouble).

    If you are looking for train tickets its a different story.
