Will I be penalized if I break my air + hotel package for Las Vegas?

Vegas Bound asked:

I purchased an air + hotel package for Vegas. I want to change my departure time. But Expedia wants to charge me $275 to change to an earlier flight. If I just book the flight on my own online it would only cost me $129 for the 1-way ticket. My question is…..if I book this flight on my own will Expedia penalize me for doing this? I would be breaking my package by departing a few hours early for Vegas.

You would have to check with Expedia. It would depend on whether or not you purchased a waiver/insurance (it may have been included in the package). Just call them up and ask them! That’s the only way you’ll know for sure…!

My friend this could be a recipe for a disaster. By trying to save some money (unfortunately a little bit too late), you may end up paying more than you bargained for in the first place.

The truth is I doubt seriously that anyone of us here can give you anything other than a “guess” as to what / if anything you can do to get out of this “contract” with Expedia.

That is why I suggest as I hope you have already done, and unfortunately not the answer you are looking for, that you call Expedia and speak with perhaps a supervisor, remember that “customer service” reps have a set of guidelines that they have to follow, so in order for you to have a chance, you need to be speaking with at least a person that can make those type of decisions.

Anyways, I hope this helps a little and I wish you good luck!
