Why don’t US air ticket sellers accept foreign credit cards?

This is really just a rant in the guise of a question, but if you have an answer, please chime in: I’m a US citizen, and a veteran, living and working overseas. When it comes time to fly home for vacation, it’s virtually impossible to book a ticket for a domestic flight, because no one will accept my credit card: it has a “foreign billing address.” Once I get there, all the stores have no problem taking my card. So what’s with online travel agents?

    I would ask the credit card company how they can help arrange it for you. Have you tried to buy the ticket online and pick it up at the airport?

    Two reasons I can think of:
    First, international banking laws may make it harder to collect in case the charges are reversed.

    Fear of “foreign” travelers being terrorists. They don’t want to be liable.

    My brother has been living in Japan since 1990, but his permanent address is our Father’s house. That way he can have a US credit card and not have any issues. Perhaps you can set up something similar.

    I have never had a problem and booked domesticly from Australia.

    Because America is one of the most indigenous countries in the world. and I’m an American.
